Dereck Jenkins is the luckiest husband in the world, married to his wife Cristal for 10 years with two children together. Graduating from Medical Lake High School in 2002, he joined the United States Army serving for 7 years as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) specialist, the military’s Bomb Squad. During his service, he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6), deployed to Iraq in 2004 and 2006, was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for actions taken in combat, an Army Commendation Medal, and two Army Achievement Medals.
After the Army, Dereck attended Tacoma Community College, receiving his Associates degree in General Studies. He then served the Army as a contractor for 3 years, teaching those in the EOD field. Currently, Dereck is working on his Bachelors in Environmental Science through American Military University. In 2013, Dereck established Chesterfield Lawn Services, LLC in Chester, Virginia. He did not start working until April 25, 2014. By the end of 2014, the goal for the company was to have 10 regular customers. By the end of 2015, the company had 109 clients with one other employee. In 2016, the company had 151 clients with three employees. And as of April 2017, the company has 319 clients with six employees.
