The goal of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for years and years was to make your blog, articles, videos and other content (like info-graphics) findable by search engines – ahem – Google. Visitors came second.

The philosophy, and rightfully so, was that if you could get search engines to find you, you would draw lots of traffic (prospects). But there was a problem. Good SEO didn’t mean good content. People came to your site. People got nauseous at how bad your stuff was. And people left.

Ultimately SEO became somewhat of a game. Pump up tons of keywords on your page, get tons of back links, and meta-tag the hell out of everything. It worked then, but not now.

Google (and its competitors, yes there are actually a few) have improved their algorithms tremendously. Search engines have become more and more capable at finding great, relevant content. And this is great news.

 

The New SEO Method

If you want to use the new SEO method on your content, you don’t need to play any SEO games. You simply need to create great content. Create stuff that helps your ideal prospects. Create stuff that they want to share. And be authentically yourself (and your company).

Everyone is on the same page now. Search engines want to provide highly relevant content to visitors. Visitors want to find stuff that is extremely relevant to them. And you want to have visitors that are genuinely interested in you.

The new SEO method is simple: Create great, relevant content.
