Bet On The Jockey And The Horse

Bet on the jockey, not the horse. That’s what they say. And they are wrong – ish.

Betting on the jockey just means you have someone with a history of drive, focus and experience. The problem is even the world’s best jockey riding a gimp horse will still lose. The jockey can guide a horse to victory. But the horse needs to be able to run.

Conversely, a great horse without a good jockey or not jockey at all, can still outrun the competition. It may even come in first place. But it is unpredictable. Highly unpredictable.

It is the combination of a great jockey (entrepreneur) and great horse (business), that yields the greatest likelihood for success. The best jockey can position the horse to do what it does best.

Don’t bet on the jockey. Don’t be on the horse. Bet on the best horse and best jockey. Together.
